Those who know me well know that I have never been one for early mornings, although I always want to wake up early, but it’s just not in the cards for me at the moment. I’m a wake up leisurly, sip coffee slowly, and start the day kinda girl – but when Megan approached me about taking a trip to central washington to photograph her anniversary session at dawn (which for those that don’t know, is before the sun rises mind you), I was 100% in! So we finalized our session date + roadtripped to Vantage. We stayed in an Airbnb that was about a 10 minute drive from the shoot location, and proceeded to get super classy by curling up in blankets, going over outfit options for the monrnig, and drinking wine from plastic cups.
Fast forward a few hours and the first alarm clock goes off – time to rock and roll! While Megan finished up getting ready, I stepped outside and was overwhelmed by all the gorgeous stars that littered the clear dark sky above me. Living in Western Washington has its perks, but one highlight of getting away from the city lights — the stars! Wow! I knew right then we were in for one spectacular sunrise, and we certainly got one. We drove out to the location under the cover of darkness and hiked the trails to get to the perfect starting spot. What made this stunning location even more amazing was Megan + Raven love to rock climb and travel out to this location often to get their climb on, so how amazing it was to get them out in their element and document their gorgeous anniversary session! The light was so incredibly beautiful that morning – we shot for nearly 2 hours, climbing through rocks, soaking up the first light of the day, and running together through the sage brush. It was such a wonderful experience and I hope that no matter where these two end up living they always enjoy looking back on these images and remembering the incredible times they shared in Washington.
