Why I made the switch from studio milestone sessions to lifestyle milestone sessions:

Children are more likely to be more comfortable in their own home.

Unless we know one another personally, I am a stranger to your child and my studio space is unfamiliar to them. Right off the bat, the chance of them becoming overwhelmed during their milestone session is higher. However, if we are in your home and a place they know and feel more comfortable, they are likely to be more like themselves. As a result, we are more likely to be able to accurately photograph their little personalities. Not to mention you will have access to their toys, snacks, and all the things that they have come to love over their first year!

There is more meaning behind the photos.

When you come to my studio there is no sentimental connection. However, when you are in your home, we can photograph your child and family in their room, your room, and the living room they have grown up playing in. We can photograph them in their crib, play peek-a-boo and do all the things you would normally do. Overall, it’s an opportunity to document what your life really looks like.

Pets!

As much as I love dogs and cats, I cannot have them in my studio. But you better believe I will encourage you to let them be part of your session if it’s in your home! Often times your one year old will have started interacting with your family pet and they can make for some really sweet and memorable photos!

I know a big reason that families come to the studio is for a cake smash. Don’t worry, we can still do it in your home. Then you have the ease of taking your one year old to the tub to rinse off!
